Newburgh Wrestling Turnaround in full effect going 9-0 at Lansingburgh Duals

The Newburgh Free Academy continued its turnaround this weekend going 9-0 and capturing 1st place at the Lansingburgh Duals.  That runs their record to 11-5 on the season and the Goldbacks are in the mits of an 11 match win streak.  They face state-ranked Valley-Central, Friday night in the 1st round of the Newburgh Duals.

The weekend was deemed milestone weekend as Newburgh wrestling history was being rewritten. 

First, Taylor Laraia(130) passed Nick Rausenberger's 97 all-time career pins record finishing the weekend at an even 100 for his career.  At the same time he tied Nick's all-time career wins record at 170. Taylor finished 9-0 on the weekend.

Saturday evening, Coach Jeff Cuilty reached 300 dual meet victories in his 30 seasons as head coach of Ardsley High School (8 seasons) and Newburgh Free Academy (22 seasons) and now stands at 305.

Marcus Spearman(189) continues to climb up the all-time wins list passing Blaze Chatham and sits at 114, four behind Tom Sands(one of the Fab Four of '04).  Marcus went 8-1 on the weekend.

Other milestones reached were 1st varsity wins by Kyle McGuire(160), and Sean Dunderdale(119).

Andrew Rivera(96) had a great tournament going 9-0 on the weekend.
