Newburgh beats Cornwall 40-27 in battle of Hall of Fame coaches

Posted Friday, December 23, 2011 by Chris Leggett
The Newburgh wrestling team ran its record to 4-2 beating Cornwall, 40-27 on December 22.  The match featured newly inducted New York State Hall of Fame coaches Jeff Cuilty and Don Blaine.  In what has become a yearly gentleman rivalry between the two schools and veteran coaches, the match certainly did not disappoint.  Despite Cornwall missing three starters and NFA starting a young squad, they continued the excitement assocoiated evry year with the neighboring schools.  In the end, Jerome McKeever(120 lbs.) sealed the victory with his fall in 1:19.  The Goldbacks enter the Winter Recess with steadily improving with each match.
